It has been around 7 months that I have been working at Z.S. Associates in Pune and during this time I have been to a plethora of parties thrown by Z.S. However this was probably the first time I was part of a team-outing which involved vegetarian food and no-alcohol. Contrary to my own beliefs the event turned out to be damn fun with me being able to experience for the first time, how spending one's holiday at a resort feels like.
Splendour Country - a beautiful resort completely surrounded by hills, is located at the outskirts of Pune near the village Mandvi by the backwaters of Khadakwasla. Our journey started with the entire office group onboarding a prebooked bus from Kharadi which then took us to the resort in around 2 hours. All the arrangements had been made beforehand with the entire resort being booked for our group itself thus giving us plenty of time to roam around the place and get lost within it's aura of splendour.
The first and probably the most magnificent thing about the entire resort was the view of the entire section of hills from almost every nook and corner of the place giving it a kind of hill-station feel with a certain sense of calmness and tranquility.
The whole resort houses a plethora of places where one can sit and enjoy their favorite sip of coffee or tea while gazing at the ever expanding lush-green forest surrounding the entire place as well as the lake which flows through it.
If experiencing the bounty of nature and taking a seat back to relax isn't enough, the resort also houses plenty of adventure sports for one to take part in ranging from sky-walking to rock-climbing. Though the weather wasn't really supportive of all these activities at the time with us getting almost melted in the heat, but I think we still managed to have a lot of fun especially when we were not busy being scared to death on seeing such heights from where people were gliding on!
Gliding via a rope from the top a of a cliff-like structure via a harness strapped to my back was something I tried for the first time and it was really very intimidating at first, reminding me of the hack-saw scenes from Final-Destination but once I started to glide down, the whole thing felt effortless and much less scary but rather really fun and full of an adrenaline rush.
The whole experience of gliding through a rope ended at a rather dingy but sturdy medium heighted area from where one was supposed to walk through a flight of broken and shaky shambling wooden steps and then finally slide to the ground.
The walking part was rather easy compared to the sudden descent made via the glide through the rope and gets over in almost no time.
All this jumping around and gliding away is sure to make one drenched and drowzy and so after this the most sensible next stop would be taking a dive into the waters of the infinity pool which houses an amazing view of the entire hill-side from one of it's ends. The entire area is well maintained and properly cleaned, so if you are one of those hygiene conscious fellows you can definitely stop worrying about it.
Apart from the pool there is also an area exclusively for dancing and partying while being completely drenched in foam which one needs to see with their own eyes to completely believe.
Apart from all these, the resort houses numerous other areas which provide a breath-taking view of the surrounding lake and the hills. Also included in the place is an entire section devoted to indoor games such as table-tennis, Foosball, carom and air-hockey and also karaoke.
All in all, I had an amazing time at this place and if possible, I would definitely want to visit this place again with a group of close friends with whom I could just sit-back, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee over while enjoying the calm-atmosphere and the sheer beauty of the place.
