While prior to being in Mumbai, I have been to multiple beaches like the Rock beach in Pondicherry or the Marina beach in Chennai, something about Versova really stands out to me. Maybe it’s the fact that its so close to my college campus SPJIMR or the fact that it’s so clean & well maintained despite being located in a crowded metropolitan city. Me and my friend decided to visit this place, on an overcast evening in order to check out the sunset and what I can say, this place really stood apart.

Unlike other prominent beach destinations, the Versova beach is directly accessible by all the incomers and there is no pavement or rock pathway separating the beach waters from the sand. The water is extremely clear and there is absolutely no unwanted pollutant garbage either on the beach or on the walkways. Due to all these aspects, the beach presents a breath-taking view of the sun while it sets into the Arabian sea. There are also a multitude of fishing boats out in the waters which provide for a pleasant view along the shore.

Versova beach is usually touted as one of the cleanest beaches in Mumbai. It is easily accessible from the D.N. Nagar metro station via an auto or a cab for a minimal fare. Our auto ride from the SPJIMR campus costed us a mere 35 Rupees.
If you happen to be in Mumbai and are near the Versova or Andheri area, do take out some time to visit this gem of a place. The ideal time to visit would be just around the morning sunrise or around 4:30 PM so that you have ample time to see the sunset. Trust me you wont be disappointed.
