A Night at Panshet!

It was the time of winter, with the monsoons gone and the weather being a pleasant one with the cool breeze blowing all over, it was a perfect time of the year for a trip to Panshet Dam.

For Punekars, Panshet has almost become a weekend hotspot. Being situated around 120 to 145 minutes from Pune, it acts as a serene place providing some relief from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. Continuous hectic weekdays transform over to a calm, tranquil and peaceful environment once you step into this lush green valley and dam.

Some of the major attractions of this place include lake side camping and night bonfires. The scenic beauty here is truly marvelous making it a place to remember. We spent the entire night at one of the local camping spots and the entire experience was arranged by a group called Trek-Fit. They made all the arrangements for the overnight bonfire as well as the camping tents.

Camping out under the daze of the finely lit star studded sky was an altogether different experience, one which I had never been through before. The tents were pretty big for a single person though we ended up never actually sleeping in one since most of our time was spent in listening to horror stories over the bonfire.

Slowly the night started fading away and the early morning sun started to rise with the entire scenery looking heavenly, full of lush green vegetation with the surrounding lake adding to it's overall charm

For people looking to visit Panshet, there's one thing to definitely keep in mind and that's the fact that the roads to this place are really narrow and the final campsite involves a small trek, so make sure that you guys are travelling in a small vehicle as that would make everything much easier.

Overall my experience was really great and this place would definitely figure into my top 10 list of places to visit in Pune. Add to that the fact that place is heavily instagramable during the early morning, I would say that Panshet is a place which is a one time must visit, anytime one happens to be in Pune

I too managed to get a few amazing shots, thanks to my friends with their superb DSLR cameras and their amazing photography skills. Hopefully will visit this place soon enough, one more time.
